Abstract. he purpose of the studies was to develop rice variety resistant to rice blast, mid-season, high-yielding with the high nutritional quality of groats. The work was performed in 2010–2019 in the Rostov region by the methods of intervarietal hybridization, individual and mass selection. Argamak variety was bred in 2010 as a result of crossing line Il.14 with highly productive Kuboyar variety. Using flanking codominant SSR markers (RM 144 and RM 224 for gene Pi-1; RM 527 and SSR 140 for gene Pi-2; RM 72 and RM 310 for gene Pi-33), it was possible to select the forms that simultaneously carry 3 resistance genes. Then, for several years (2012–2015), multiple individual and mass selections were made from hybrid progeny in the second and subsequent generations of plants with the largest panicles. In the process of breeding, we selected a rice sample (Don 8210), which was studied in a control nursery (in 2017) and in a competitive test (in 2018–2019). In the autumn of 2019, it was transferred to a state variety test called Argamak. The duration of the growing season of the promising variety is 119 days. The plants are medium-sized, 93 cm high. The length of a panicle is 16 cm; it yields 140–145 oval grains 8.4 mm long and 3.3 mm wide. The average weight of the grain is 31.1 mg. In competitive variety testing (2018–2019), productivity averaged 8.79 t/ha, exceeding Yuzhanin standard by 1.59 t/ha.
