Abstract. The purpose of the study was to assess the influence of weather conditions on the grain and fodder productivity of varieties and promising lines of oats for universal use adapted to the conditions of the Middle Urals. Field experiments were conducted in 2014–2019 in the Sverdlovsk region. The amount of rainfall in the vegetation seasons of 2014, 2015, and 2017 was high; the HTC was 2.22, 2.72, and 2.35, respectively; in 2018 and 2019, the HTC was 1.55 and 1.86, respectively; in 2016, it was 0.70. In the competitive test nursery, we annually studied 25–30 varieties and lines; Universal 1 variety was used as a standard. Favourable conditions in 2017 resulted in the highest yield of grain (5.82 t/ha) and green mass (57.3 t/ha). In dry 2016, the grain yield was 4.19 t/ha; the yield of green mass was 21.2 t/ha. Uralets variety was characterized by better overall adaptability in terms of grain and green mass yield (OAC was 0.13 and 0.52, respectively). Universal 1, Uralets varieties, and K-08-86 line were distinguished by the high breeding genotypic value (BGVi was 2.98–3.13) and relative stability (Sgi was 10.02–11.33) in terms of grain yield; the values of these indicators in terms of green mass yield were at the same level. The reaction of Universal 1 variety to changes in environmental conditions was poor (bi = 0.96). The weight of 1000 grains of K-08-86 and K-11-167 lines and Pamyati Balavina and Pokrov varieties was higher than that of the standard (41.1 g) by 3.2, 2.8, 3.9, and 2.1 g, respectively. The filminess of all the studied genotypes was below the standard (26.6%) by 0.3–2.9%.
