Abstract. The purpose of the studies was to breed a fodder-grain variety of oats, combining high potential productivity, low filminess, resistance to lodging, and adaptability to various environmental conditions. The work was performed in 2016–2019 in the Altai Territory in a competitive test nursery on 15 breeding lines; the standard was Korifey variety. The forecrops were bare fallow and wheat. Environmental testing (of three genotypes) was conducted in 2017–2018 in the northern forest-steppe of the Kuznetsk depression; the standard was Kreol variety. In terms of productivity, we distinguished 8 genotypes. On average over three years, their grain yield after bare fallow ranged from 5.08 t/ha (Mutika 3097) to 5.70 t/ha (Mutika 4040), exceeding the standard by 9.4–21.8%. When experimental samples were sown after wheat, they exceeded the standard by 0.59–0.89 t/ha, or 15.6–23.5%. The distinguished lines turned out to be coarse-grained – the weight of 1000 seeds was higher by 1.4–5.8 g than that of the standard. In terms of husk content and grain unit, the best results were observed for Mutika 4040 and Mutika 4162 lines – 23.5% and 24.7%, 552 g/L and 559 g/L, respectively. All the genotypes showed the same lodging resistance as the standard or higher. Mutika 4012 and Mutika 4022 turned out to be virtually resistant to dust brand against an artificial background (5 per cent of plants were injured); Mutika 4040, Mutika 4150, and Mutika 4162 were classified as weakly susceptible. In an environmental test, Mutika 4012, Mutika 4022, and Mutika 4040 lines exceeded Kreol standard in terms of yield by 1.30–1.52 t/ha, or 36.1–51.9%. On average for 2016–2017 in the production test, a yield increase for Mutika 3058 sample amounted to 27.1% relative to the standard; for Mutika 3097 in 2017, it was 44.4%. These lines were transferred to the State test under the names of Vektor and Rusich, respectively.
