Abstract. The studies were conducted in 1994–2018 in the forest-steppe zone of the Novosibirsk region. The purpose of the studies was to develop promising breeding material and soybean varieties adapted to the conditions of Siberia. In 2001–2005 in the collection nurseries, we identified the sources of the following traits: early ripeness – SibNIISKhoz 6, Ugra, Nordic No. 3, Severnaya-4 (88–100 days); high seed productivity – Amurskaya 401, No. 301, Alvia, Sito (21.7–30.1 g/plant); high protein and fat content in seeds – Omskaya 4, Soer-4, Maple presto, L. 073-4 (40.6–41.4% and 17.1–18.2%, respectively). Amurskaya 401, Mutant 509, and Traff varieties were selected by a combination of early ripeness (102–111 days), high seed productivity (21.7–26.4 g/plant) and seed quality (protein content of 39.8–40.6% and fat content of 18.3–19.1%). The yield of the selection number 131 (selected from Alvia variety) in the control nursery (2012–2015) was 2.51 t/ha that is significantly higher than that of the standard – by 18%. SibNIIK 315 variety with a seed yield of up to 3.0 t/ha and a high ripening rate for Siberia was selected from sample K-5828. SibNIIK 9 variety with a potential yield of 3.36 t/ha and a vegetation period of 93 days was bred in 2017 from SibNIIK 315 by methods of radiation mutagenesis and multiple individual selections. In 1994–2003, we conducted more than 30 crossings. The most successful was SibNIIK 315 x Fiskebi V. The line selected from this combination – Gorinskaya variety – was included in the State Register in 2018. Its highest seed yield in the East Siberia was 3.12 t/ha (2016). In 2010–2018, under conditions of the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia, it varied from 1.6 t/ha to 2.94 t/ha, consistently exceeding the standard by 7–26%.
