Abstract. The purpose of the study was to develop a variety of grain beans adapted to the conditions of the Middle Volga region with a high quality of seeds and suitable for mechanized harvesting. The work was performed in the Samara region in 2016–2019. The promising BF12 line was bred by the method of individual selection from the hybrid population F2 by crossing a local variety pattern from the village of Yekaterinovka, participating in hybridization as a parent form, and Bezenchukskaya Belaya variety. The shape of the plants of the promising line is semi-shrub; the flowers are white; the bean is husk, medium curved, green; the seeds are white; the weight of 1000 seeds is 211–308 g. According to the duration of the growing season, line BF12 belongs to the mid-ripening group of varieties; it ripens on average during 92 days. Compared to Bezenchukskaya Belaya standard, its beans are formed compactly in the middle part of the stem that ensures uniform ripening and the possibility of harvesting by direct combining. The maximum accumulation of protein in seeds in the experiment (30%) was noted in 2016. According to this trait, the line exceeded the standard by 1.6%. BF12 was not inferior to the standard in terms of seed digestibility coefficient (2.5) and cooking time (94 min.). The seed yield of the line over the years of competitive testing varied from 0.48 t/ha to 1.23 t/ha; the seed yield of the standard varied from 0.26 t/ha to 1.18 t/ha. In 2019, it was transferred for state variety testing as Samarskaya Belaya. In the cultivation of the new line BF12 in the Samara region, it is recommended to use generally accepted agricultural techniques.
