Abstract. Duration of production use of animals is a selection and genetic trait having a hereditary basis. It largely depends on the genotype of bulls. The study aimed to determine the breeding value of 18 stud bulls used in the herd of the Sychevskaya breed in the employee-owned enterprise Rybkovskoye, the Smolensk region, according to the productive longevity and lifetime productivity of their daughters. The studies were conducted in 2000–2010. We studied culled daughters (n = 736) with lineage records confirmed by immunogenetic expertise. The lactation age of daughters (n=175) of six stud bulls (Bulvar 6779, Kobi 6719, Belyak 6762, Pan 6778, Blok 6772, and Otsek 6639) reached 7.3–8.6 years; their lifetime productivity was 33,050–39,568 kg of milk. These indicators, with a statistically significant difference, were higher than those of all evaluated bulls and the herd in general; 99% of the daughters of the listed bulls completed three lactations and more. A yield of 25,000 kg of milk and more was noted in 139 (79%) of their descendants; 68 daughters (49%) yielded 40 tons of milk and more. The percentage of daughters from bulls Ekran 6732, Zazor 6788, Phenik 6797, Azart 6800, and Nord 6803 culled in the first three lactations was 60%, 47%, 43%, 42%, and 39%, respectively. The duration of the use of the offspring of these bulls in the herd did not exceed 4.2 lactations (3.3–4.2); their life-long milk yield was 16,063–21,064 kg of milk. Lifetime productivity of 25 tons of milk and more was noted only in 15–22% of their daughters. The breeding value of stud bulls in terms of lifetime productivity and longevity did not depend on the productivity of daughters for the first lactation; the Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient (Pxy) between the values of these indicators was -0.24.

Keywords: stud bulls; cows; daughters; life-long milk yield; productive longevity; milk yield.
