Abstract. The purpose of the research was to study the effect of different dosages of linseed cake in diets of horses on their live weight, the main measurements, body indices, and slaughter results at different age periods. We studied the following dosages: 300 g/horse and 500 g/horse per day at the age of 9–12 months, 600 g/horse and 800 g/horse per day at the age of 12–18 months. Scientific and economic experiments were carried out in the Kurgan region on young horses of Russian Heavy Draft breed. At the end of the first experiment (at the age of 12 months), the animals from the control group were inferior to those from the experimental groups in height at the withers by 0.21–1.07%, in chest girth by 1.23–3.12% (p-value was less than 0.05), and in pastern girth by 0.49–2.88% (p-value was less than 0.01). The pre-slaughter weight of animals from the control group was less than in the experimental groups by 3.03–5.11% (p-value was less than 0.05); the weight of the chilled carcass was 4.71–8.02% less (p-value was less than 0.05); slaughter yield was less by 0.90–1.52%. As a result of feeding linseed cake to horses at the age of 12–18 months, the live weight of young animals by the end of the experiment (18 months) increased compared to the control by 4.26–5.82% (p-value was less than 0.01). Height at the withers of the horses that consumed the experimental diet was more than that of their peers from the control group by 0.54–1.38% (p-value was less than 0.05); their chest girth was 1.20–1.26% higher (p-value was less than 0.05); their pastern girth was 1.56–2.15% higher. The pre-slaughter weight of animals from the control group was less than that of those from the experimental groups by 4.18–5.42% (p-value was less than 0.05); the weight of chilled carcasses was 5.46–7.81% lower (p-value was less than 0.05); slaughter yield was lower by 0.75–1.38%. In general, the best results for all the studied parameters were registered for the animals whose diets included linseed cake at the dose of 500 g/horse per day at the age of 9–12 months and 800 g/horse per day at the age of 12–18 months.
