Abstract. OH (runs of homozygosity) homozygosity patterns can be used to improve the selection of parental pairs and to select animals in the population. The studies assessed the genomic coefficient of inbreeding based on ROH in relation to the traits of their productivity and fertility of the offspring to improve the matching of parental pairs and selection of animals. With an increase in the pattern size from 1–2 Mb to 16 Mb and more the average ROH length increased from 1.34 Mb to 23.56 Mb. With an increase in FROH (inbreeding coefficient determined using ROH, genomic coefficient of inbreeding) by a moderate value from 4.1% to 7.5%, the volume of bull ejaculate increased on average from 4.62 mL to 4.74 mL; the number of spermatozoa increased from 6.16 billion pcs to 6.62 billion pcs in the average volume of ejaculate; their concentrations increased from 1.33 bln/mL to 1.41 bln/mL. With a further increase in the value of this indicator above 7.6% and 10.9%, we noted a decrease in the qualitative parameter while maintaining the quantitative parameters. The concentration of sperm cells increased from 1.41 bln pcs to 1.32 bln pcs. Based on the results of the estimated breeding value (EBV) using bulls with a FROH of 7.6% or more, daughters’ milk productivity in 305 days increased in comparison with the descendants of stud bulls by 222–228 kg; the yield of milk fat increased by 6.8–7.9 kg; the yield of milk protein increased by 5.1 kg; the number of yield days increased by 3.4–4.2. At the same time, we observed a negative trend in the number of inseminations required to achieve pregnancy. They decreased by 0.017–0.031 units while the duration of the service period decreased by 4.0 days and 5.5 days. In the genome of Holstein cattle, we identified several loci on the chromosomes BTA 6, BTA8, BTA9, BTA10, BTA 14, BTA20, BTA22, and BTA26, which were under selection pressure.

Keywords: cattle; ROH patterns; genomic inbreeding; milk production; ejaculate; estimated breeding value (EBV).
