Abstract. We evaluated the efficiency of differentiated application of nitrogen fertilizers as root dressing in crops of white mustard (Sinapis alba L., variety Rapsodia), spring triticale (хTriticosecale Wittm. ex. A. Camus, variety Timiryazevskaya 42), and spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L., variety TSKhA4). The study was performed under conditions of the Central Non-Chernozem region in 2013–2015. The experiment was conducted on sod-podzolic medium loamy soil with a low humus content (1.9%). The experimental design included two dressing options: a fixed dose (90 kg of primary nutrient/ha) and a differentiated dose of nitrogen. Differentiation was based on an average nitrogen dose of 90 kg of primary nutrient/ha calculated using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), which in turn was calculated according to the GreenSeeker optical sensor. The NDVI values were registered two weeks after the application of fertilizers with the fixed dose to white mustard crops. Compared to the period before dressing they increased by 26.9%; with the differentiated calculation they increased by 27.8%; in the control, they increased by 8.1%. In spring triticale crops, the NDVI value, despite extreme weather conditions, increased by 33.4% in the fixed dose option, with the differentiated calculation, it increased by 46.6%; in the control, it decreased by 2.7%. In spring barley crops, two weeks after the differentiated application of nitrogen fertilizers, NDVI increased by 39.6%; with the fixed dose, it increased by 36.3%; in the control, it increased by 5.7%. The differentiated calculation of doses of nitrogen fertilizers made it possible to increase the yield of white mustard by 27.3% compared to the option with the introduction of the fixed dose of nitrogen and by 48.0% compared to the control; the yield of spring triticale increased by 5.0% and 9.9%, respectively; the yield of spring barley increased by 6.8% and 41.5%, respectively.
