The mechanism for calculating the complex indicator of animal productivity

Abstract. Assessment of the influence of conformation type on the meat productivity of cattle is an urgent task. In turn, the type of physique is determined by a sufficiently large number of measurements of an animal's body articles. In other words, when analysing productivity, each individual will represent a point in a multidimensional space, where the number of dimensions is determined by the number of parameters. At the same time, it should be noted that there is often a noticeable correlation between these parameters of meat productivity. Under such conditions, it is difficult to build any complex numerical indicator that would adequately reflect the values of all initial parameters. Therefore, the paper proposes to use such a method of multivariate analysis as dominant component analysis. The purpose of the research was to determine the mechanism for the formation of a complex productivity index based on the dominant component analysis of young Aberdeen-Angus breed, originating from sires of different body types. Factor analysis of data allows to reduce the vector dimension of initial parameters and determine the main factors. The use of the dominant component analysis for the formation of a generalised complex indicator of productivity provides opportunities for a numerical assessment, which allows to consider all the initial parameters. The fact that the animals belong to a certain intrabreed type of Aberdeen Angus cattle has a significant impact on the value of the complex indicator of productivity. Based on such a complex indicator, it is possible to choose the most promising individuals for further breeding work. According to the results of a one-way analysis of variance, the value of the complex indicator of productivity had a significant impact on the belonging of animals to a certain intrabreed type of Aberdeen Angus cattle. Based on the obtained complex indicator of productivity, it is possible to choose individuals that are the most promising for further breeding work.
