Abstract. The research aimed to study the source and selection material for SDS sedimentation, to determine its variability and relationship with other quality indicators, and to identify promising material. The work was carried out in 2018–2021 near the city of Barnaul. The predecessor was black fallow. The soil was leached chernozem, medium thick, medium loamy, low humus. The study included 46 collection samples, 23 competitive variety testing samples, as well as 1107 lines from the breeding nursery of the first year 2020–2021. SDS-sedimentation was determined by the genotype factor for collection material by 77.0%, for samples of competitive variety testing – by 79.1%, by the year factor – by 12.0 and 10.4%, respectively, their interaction – by 9.32 and 9.1%. The value of SDS sedimentation is closely related to the FDM index (r = -0.72 for the original and -0.86 for the selection material) and the gluten index (0.72), weakly correlates with losses during cooking (0.33) and is not related to the content of protein and fibrin (0.01-0.13), strength and enlargement of pasta (r = -0.06-0.24). Very strong and strong fibrin (≥35 ml) was observed in samples from the Durofinus collection, Gordeiforme 748, Yasenka, 1429d-10, Krasnokutka 14, Durofox, Duranegra, 14S3-17, 14S4-30, Duragold; and in breeding varieties and lines ATP Partner, Gordeiforme 960, ATP Prima and Gordeiforme 888. Fibrin of medium strength was observed in 26 samples. The highest frequency of obtaining lines with a high volume of sedimentation was observed in the progeny of varieties ATP Partner, Shukshinka, Gordeiforme 748, Gordeiforme 896, Strongfield, Bezenchukskaya golden, Vitrosol and some others.
