Abstract. The studies aimed to determine the effectiveness of the use of a herbal solution based on a powdered extract of the medicinal plant creeping thyme (Thymus serpyllum L.) in therapy in cows with subclinical mastitis. 12 cows with a subclinical form of mastitis were selected for conducting the experiment by the method of analogues, which were divided into 2 groups of 6 animals each. In the control group, the subclinical form of mastitis was treated with Enroflon-gel, which was administered intramammary at a dose of 7.5 g twice a day with an interval of 12 hours; in the experimental group, a phytosolution based on a powdered extract of creeping thyme (1:4 dilution) was used with a similar interval. Determination of the sensitivity of microorganisms isolated from cows’ milk to a solution of creeping thyme extract was carried out according to the current guidelines. Blood for hematologic studies was taken twice at the beginning and end of the experiment. The growth retardation of the suspension of Escherichia coli and Streptoccocus faecalis microorganisms in the presence of a solution of creeping thyme extract was observed at a dilution of 1:4 and 1:16. The introduction of a phytosolution based on a powdered extract of creeping thyme intramammary to cows with subclinical mastitis contributed to their recovery on the 3rd day. During intramammary treatment with Enroflon-gel, a negative reaction with a 2% of mastidinum was observed on the 5th day. In the experimental group, at the beginning of the experiment, a significantly higher average concentration of hemoglobulin in the erythrocyte (MCHC) was observed, compared with the control group, by 6.96%, or 1.95 g/dl (p<0.001). In the experimental group, at the beginning of the study, the content of erythrocytes was significantly lower than at its completion, by 17.98%, or 0.98×1012/l (p<0.01).
