Abstract. bstract. The biological role of lipids in animal organisms is multifaceted and is due to their participation in energy metabolism and fundamental importance in the formation of cell membranes and cell signalling interactions. The research aimed to study the parameters of lipid metabolism in purebred full-aged ewes of the Romanov breed, bred under the ecological and geographical conditions of the south of Western Siberia, to assess the adaptive capabilities of animals. Blood samples were taken by conventional methods once during the winter period and analysed using commercial kits of Vetor-Best JSC for biochemical studies “Cholesterol” and “Triglycerides”. Absorbance measurements were performed on a Photometer 5010 V5+ semi-automatic photometer. Statistical processing of experimental data was carried out using standard methods of descriptive statistics in the data analysis environment "RStudio". Normality of distribution was assessed using the Anderson-Darling test. The average values of lipid metabolism in the blood serum of Romanov ewes were within the physiological norm for triglycerides – 0.37 mmol/l, for cholesterol – above the norm of 4.15 mmol/l. The reference interval of total cholesterol for full-aged ewes of the Romanov breed, bred under the climatic and geographical conditions of the south of Western Siberia, was 2.37-5.74 mmol/l (with the lower limit of the 90% confidence interval of 1.96-2.75 mmol/l, upper – 520.1-689.9 mmol/l), triglycerides – 0.06-0.8 mmol/l (with confidence intervals, respectively, 0.020-0.034 and 0.70-0.99 mmol/l). The established reference intervals allow for a more accurate assessment of the clinical condition of animals, as well as timely detection of deviations from the normative values.
