Summary. The losses of potato tubers during the storage are from 20 % to 30 %, and in some years they reach 50 %, which makes the safety of its seed and food funds the problem of current importance. The industrial strain of Bacillus subtilis Ch-13, which is used in the composition of microbial preparations and fertilizers and has high antifungal activity against a broad spectrum of phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria has been studied. The widespread potato variety Nevsky grown by the conventional technology at the experimental field of the Leningrad Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture «Belogorka» was used as a plant test object. Experimental batches of potato tubers were superdispersed sprayed over the surface by bacterial suspension of Bacillus subtilis Ch-13 (dose of 100…120 ml/10 kg) in three replicates, the control was without the treatment. Experimental and control batches of potato were put up for storage at two temperatures: the temperature 18±1 deg was recommended for recovery treatment period and at the temperature 3±1 deg for storage of food potato. The productivity of the experiment was 14 days at 18±1 deg and 21 days at 3±1 deg. The use of microbial preparations for intensifying of the adaptive immune response of potato tubers during cold storage is an effective method, activating response protective reactions of tubers more than 2 times. The use of microbial preparation based on the strain B. subtilis Ch-13 increased the activity of peroxidase in potato tubers 1.6…2.4 times, the formation of phytoalexin 3.1 times, the content of ascorbic acid 1.3 times in comparison with the control. The use of microbial preparations in modern technologies of potato storage is economically attractive for farmers.

Keywords: storage of potato, microbial preparations, extrasol, improving the efficiency of tuber storage technologies.
