MICROBIOLOGICAL METHODS OF SEWAGE TREATMENT FROM NITROGEN COMPOUNDS

Summary. The article presents an overview of research on the intensive microbiological methods of sewage treatment from nitrogen compounds used both at urban treatment facilities and large livestock breeding complexes. It is considered the technologies (BioDenipho, Bardenpho) based on such traditional methods of sewage treatment from nitrogen pollution, as nitrification and denitrification, as well as methods of removing of nitrogen pollution from waste water at treatment facilities of the type «constructed wetlands». The results of studies on improvement of the removal efficiency of nitrogen pollution from sewage are summarized, the examples of technologies used in the anaerobic waste water treatment based on ANAMMOX-process (SHARON-ANAMMOX, CANON, OLAND, DEAMOX) are given. The main disadvantages in the traditional wastewater treatment, such as BioDenipho and Bardenpho, are energy consumption and the need for organic matter to implement the process of denitrification. The disadvantages of the intensive purification methods for SHARON-ANAMMOX are the need for the realization of several modes of control and maintenance of the temperature of the incoming wastewater in the range from 34 to 36 deg, for CANON it is monitoring of oxygen content for the productive work of mixed microbiocenosis and nitrogen load; for OLAND it is low efficiency of nitrogen removal and strict control of pH, temperature and oxygen concentration; for DEAMOX it is the need of maintaining the optimal temperature conditions in DEAMOX-reactor. As a result of the analysis it is proposed the possibility of the realization of the process of anaerobic oxidation of ammonium in the systems of extensive purification of waste water.
