Summary. Investigations were carried out on black-and-white cows of pedigree and commercial dairy herds in Ryazan region. The supposition for the scientific substantiation of the methodical support of the experiment was a physical phenomenon of the conductivity of vaginal mucus in inhomogeneous electric field, which is caused by the ability of bio-materials to conduct weak electric current, as well as the presence of high positive correlations of conductivity with the level of main electrolytes in vaginal mucus. When using the results of investigations the breeding efficiency in the first insemination at multiplication department of APC “Mir” was 77.5 %, with insemination index 1.3; at APC “Nadezhda” – 65.0 % and 1.5; and at OAO “Named after General Skobelev” – 63.3 % and 1.7, correspondingly. Due to scientifically substantiated choice of insemination time the breeding efficiency of cows significantly increased (by 22.1 %), the percent of overlaps and semen expense per one insemination decreased from 3.4 to 1.5 doses. A single insemination of cows increased the efficiency of semen use of valuable sires, valued by the quality of progeny, more than two times. The realization of the instructive regulations on the determination of the optimal time for cow insemination with device “Reprotest” significantly increased the working efficiency of veterinary specialists, implementing an innovative approach to organization of cattle reproduction that provides high results of insemination and improvement of economic indices of dairy cattle breeding.

Keywords: dairy cattle breeding, reproduction, conductivity, vaginal mucus, “Reprotest”, optimal time for cow insemination.
