Summary. To provide food security of Russia the intensification of research on the efficiency of grain production is necessary. The article presents a comparative assessment of economic efficiency of grain production of spring and winter crops in Kemerovo region for the period 2007-2013; the dynamics of productivity and total yields of grain is demonstrated. During the research period it was noted the reducing of cultivated areas of grain and leguminous crops at the average by 119.9 thousand hectares (16 %), reducing of total yields of grain by 542.6 thousand tons (37.3 %), also there is significant variation in the yield of spring crops from 10.2 to 24.3 hundred kilograms per hectare and in the yield of winter crops – from 5.6 to 45.0 hundred kilograms per hectare. To assess the impact of specific factors on the cost of grain cultures the correlation and regression analysis was carried out. Industrial and economic indices of crops production were used as the factors included in the linear multiregression model. The production of cereal crops was unprofitable in 2013. The loss was 26178 thousand rubles, the level of profitability was 2.6 %. The profit of production of winter crops reached 11878 thousand rubles in 2013, which is higher by 426 thousand rubles than in 2007, the product profitability was 169 %. The conducted research allows drawing the conclusion that the economic efficiency of production of winter crops is higher than production of spring crops. In Kemerovo region it is necessary to optimize the correlation of winter and spring crops in the direction of extension of the winter wheat and rye.

Keywords: grain production, sown area, yield, total yield, winter and spring crops, economic efficiency, cost.
