Summary. The purpose of the study was to evaluate winter rye varieties according to the parameters of ecological flexibility and stability under conditions of south-east of Western Siberia regarding to the crop yield, content of protein, cellulose and ash in grain. The material for the study was varieties Petrovna (the standard), Irina, Irtyshskaya, Sibirskaya 87, Parom. The field experiments were carried out according to the methodology of the state crop variety testing. The ecological flexibility of the varieties was determined by the method of S.A. Eberhart and B.А. Rusell in the version of V.А. Zykin and others; chemical composition of the grain was determined by the method of the near infrared spectroscopy with the infrared analyzer NIRSystems 4500/5000. According to the parameters of ecological flexibility and yield stability the most valuable varieties of winter rye are Parom for sub-boreal forest of the submountain regions (bi = 1.00; δ2di = 6.10), variety Irtyshskaya for the northern forest-steppe zone of the submountain regions (bi = 1.18; δ2di = 0.62). In the northern forest-steppe zone of the submountain regions the varieties Irina and Parom were characterized by the greatest amount of protein, cellulose and ash. These two varieties were also the most ecologically flexible regarding to the accumulation of protein and ash (bi = 1.48 and bi = 1.69, correspondingly), regarding to the accumulation of cellulose – Irtyshskaya (bi = 1.55) and Irina (bi = 1.41). All varieties showed high stability regarding to the cellulose and ash content (δ2di = 0.01…2.61), and low stability regarding to the protein content (δ2di = 24.91…88.12). The varieties Irtyshskaya and Parom are recommended to be cultivated in both zones against the best agricultural background and a high level of farming standards; for low agricultural backgrounds we recommended varieties Petrovna, Irina and Sibirskaya 87.
Keywords: winter rye, ecological flexibility, stability, protein, cellulose, ash.
