Summary. This paper shows the polymorphism of genes of kappa-casein (CSN3) and prolactin (PRL) of breeding stock of Kholmogory breed of Tatarstan type. The distribution of genotype frequency of kappa-casein gene (CSN3) was the following: AA – 73 %, AB – 24 %, BB – 3 %. For genotypes of prolactin gene (PRL) it was the following: AA – 69 %, AB – 29 %, BB – 2 %. Cows from the combined group with genotypes AB and BB in gene locus of kappa-kazein (CSN3) had an advantage by 2.9 kg in live weight compared with cows homozygous for the allele A. They also gave milk with higher fat and protein content; as a result of which the output of milk fat was higher by 6.5 kg, of protein – by 3.4 kg. In cows with genotypes AB and BB in prolactin gene (PRL) the live weight was higher, than in cows with AA genotype, by 2.4 kg; the output of milk fat – by 1.2 kg, of protein – by 2.2 kg. Milk production of studied animals in connection with allelic polymorphism of genes of kappa-casein (CSN3) and prolactin (PRL) had low positive correlation with the fat content in milk (r = 0.08, r = 0.07 ), as well as with live weight at calving (r = 0.14, r = 0.26). The conjugation coefficient between milk yield and protein content in milk indicates the presence of weak negative correlation (r = -0.3, r = -0.22). A significant variation of alleles and genotypes frequency of the studied genes was revealed, that may indicate the possibility of increasing in the genetic potential of the herd in such economically valuable traits as protein and fat content in milk.
