Summary. The regularities of variability of content of protein and dry matter in herbage of grass pea vine were investigated. We tested 25 samples of grass pea vine of different ecological and geographical origin from VIR collection, which were reproduced under different ecological and geographical conditions. The samples were grown in Poltava region (Ukraine) in 2013 and in Leningrad region (Russia) in 2012-2013. The values of the traits varied depending on the growing conditions; the protein content – from 10.0 % to 27.9 %, dry matter content – from 17.6 % to 28.8 %. The genotypic variance (CV) fluctuated from year to year for the protein content from 5.63 % to 11.57 %, for dry matter content - from 7.33 % to 9.35 %. The proportion of their variability (CV) due to the environmental factors and the interaction «genotype-environment» was 10.09 % and 8.89 % respectively. There were not determined reliable correlations between the content of protein and dry matter in herbage and ecological and geographical origin of genotypes. The protein content in green mass depends significantly on the weather conditions (the influence of the environment (Eta2) is 89.5 %). Variation of dry matter content was less correlated with meteorological conditions (Eta2 = 11.7 %). The parameters of general and specific adaptive capacities (GAC and SAC) and genotype stability for biochemical parameters of grass pea vine were determined according to the method described by Kilchevsky A.V. and Khotyleva L.V. GAC of genotypes on protein content varied from -2.02 to 1.52, SAC fluctuated from 14.6 to 21.8. On dry matter content GAC varied from -4.45 to 2.23 and SAC – from 8.42 to 12.90. It was shown the comparability of results, obtained with the calculation of genotype stability by means of coefficient of variation CV and relative stability of genotypes Sgi. The samples of grass pea vine were detected, which possesses the complex of valuable signs, high general adaptive capacity and stability, with high protein content (K-900, K-712, K-841) and dry matter content (K-42, K-47, K-292).
