Summary. Biological, agronomical, technological indicators and morphological features of a new variety of Foma spring oats are presented. The variety was created in the Research Institute of Agriculture of the Northern Trans-Ural Region and was included in the State Register of Selection Achievements since 2015 for cultivation in the 10th region (Western Siberia) of the Russian Federation. The variety is included in the list of valuable ones; its grain can be used for fodder and the groats processing. According to maturing terms it is referred to a mid-season group; from germination to wax ripeness it is 59-88 days. In the State Variety Test, depending on the regions of cultivation, the growing season ranged from 68 (the Chuvash Republic) to 96 days (Primorsky Krai). The variety is medium-grown, the plant height is 50.0-105.0 cm, it is resistant to lodging. The grain yield on average for years of studying in a competitive variety test of the Research Institute of Agriculture of the Northern Trans-Ural Region (2007-2014) was 4.65 t/ha with the yield of the Megion standard–3.95 t/ha. The maximal crop yield was obtained in 2014 at Nerchinsk state strain-testing station (Zabaykalsky Krai)–8.27 t/ha. The results of the State Variety Test showed a significant yield increase (0.20-0.47 t/ha) compared with the average standard; in the number of regions of the Russian Federation (Chelyabinsk region, Omsk region, Tyumen region, Amur region, the Republic of Khakassia, Primorsky Krai) the variety has sufficiently high yield of grain (Khoz = 36.4%). Technological properties of grain are high (grain-unit is 466.1-639.0 g/l, husk content is 21.6-26.2%, thousand grain weight is 32.5-41.0 g). The variety is middle-resistant to the spring and summer drought, resistant to shedding of grain, under natural conditions was not injured by dust brand and covered smut.

Keywords: variety, spring oats, productivity, vegetation period, quality of grain, morphological characteristics, economic properties.
