NEW HYBRIDS OF CORN FOR CONDITIONS OF THE CENTRAL CHERNOZEM REGION

Summary. With the use of early-maturing and late-ripening lines of corn a simple interline sterile hybrid Sirius S was developed, which serves as a maternal form for three-line corn hybrids Effektny SV (FAO 160), Resursny (FAO 220) and Stabilny SV(FAO 240). The Sirius S sterile hybrid has high OKS effects of grain productivity and SKS effects of precocity, as evidenced by its hybrids with potential grain yield of 10-11 t/ha and precocity from 160 to 240 units of FAO. According to the competitive tests of hybrids in 2012-2014 these hybrids exceeded the standard in grain productivity in the region by 1.6, 2.1 and 2.3 t/ha, respectively, or by 22-32%. In the yield of dry matter from leaves and stems mass without ears at the phase of full ripeness (21.8-26.5% of humidity) these hybrids exceeded the standard by 1.81-2.70 t/ha or 27.5-41.0%. According to the results of the State Trials the Resursny SV hybrid of corn has been submitted to the State Register of Selection Achievements in the fifth region since 2015, Effektny SV is included in the State Variety Test since 2014, Stabilny SV – since 2015. The purposeful breeding work in Belgorod Agricultural Research Institute enabled to create the hybrids with for universal use differing in maturity (from FAO 160 to FAO 240), which are able to provide the structural composition of corn hybrids in early maturation in Belgorod and other regions of the Central Chernozem region.
