Summary. The researches were directed to the development of cultivation methods of fodder galega, providing the optimal conditions for the growth and development of plants in the year of sowing and the following years of growth, as well as the rational use of arable lands. In the experiment it was compared the efficacy of pure crops of galega with crops under the cover, using corn for green fodder and silage as a cover crop, and different doses of fertilizers: N15P15K15 and N30P30K30were also applied. The investigations were carried out on chernozem soils of the Middle Volga region under conditions of moderate continental climate in 2011-2014. As a result of the research it was revealed the effectiveness of cover crops for galega, the optimal doses of fertilizers (N30P30K30), which provided the increase in the yield of production per an area unit, were determined. It was established that the maximum yield was obtained in clean cultivation, but seeding of galega under the cover of corn was only 3.1% less, than in this variant. Complex fertilizers influenced also the corn crops; they provided a yield increase in comparison with the control variant (without fertilizer) by 6% when harvesting corn for green fodder and 4.2% when harvesting corn for silage. In addition from this area in the year of sowing of galega it was obtained up to 37.8 t/ha of green mass of corn.
