Summary. The article presents the results of long-term investigations (1989-2012) of samples from flax collection and hybrid populations against infection background in order to study the genetics of flax resistance to Fusarium wilt. On the basis of methods of hybrid analysis and phytopathological test 18 sources of resistance to the disease were selected, which had different ecological and geographical origin. Effective genes of resistance in following samples were identified: L. 8 Dakota and L.3 Clark – gene Fu 2; L.3 k-5240, L.7 No 340, L.4 Areco, L. 2 Atalante and L.6 k-5635 – Fu 4; L. 1 Querandi and L. 1 k-65 – Fu 5; L. 3 Currong – Fu 6; L.8 Roja and L.3 Siciliana – Fu 7; G-2101-4-7, L. 2 Rodnik, L.3 Z 95199 and L.4 Honkei 21 – Fu 8; L.8 Rodnik – Fu 9; L.12 Linota – Fu 10. On their basis with the use of method of continuous double backcrosses and selection against the infectious background highly competitive varieties of fiber flax were developed for the first time in the world. These are varieties Parus, Sursky, Dialog and Caesar with different genes of resistance (Fu 4, Fu 5, Fu 6 and Fu 8, correspondingly). The Caesar variety possesses the complex resistance to three diseases (Fusarium wilt, rust and pasmo disease). Wide use of these varieties in crop production will allow preventing the danger of epiphytoty of Fusarium wilt of flax.

Keywords: flax, resistance, variety, agent of disease, Fusarium wilt.
