Summary. Scientists from Research Institute of Agriculture of North-East and Falenskaya experimental station developed promising varieties of chaffy oats: 397h07 and 418h07. The varieties were developed with the use of hybridization, selection and biotechnological methods (callus cultures in the selective systems in vitro with aluminium (Al40 3+), screening according to drought resistance signs). The 397h07 variety distinguished by high grain quality: husk content is 24.9-25.3%, thousand graih weight is 40.3-42.0 g, grain unit is 592-609 g/l, protein content is 15.28%; it is resistant to dust brand and Fusarium blight of panicle (injury is up to 1.3%) under field conditions and to barley yellow dwarf (injury is up to 3.7%) and oat fly (losses are up to 2.2%) against provocative background. The productivity of the promising variety 2h12о varied from 8.0 t/ha on tame soils to 3.4 t/ha on pedalfer soils. This variety was developed by the use of in vitro callus culture (10% polyethylene glycol) and double screening against the infectious background with root rots. The grain unit is 598-604 g/l, thousand grain weight is 38.1-38.8 g, husk content is 23.4-25.7%. Under condition of the natural infectious background the variety is resistant (7 points) to dust brand, Fusarium blight of panicle and leaf stripe of oats, as well as to oat fly against the provocative background. Huskless variety 857h05 is characterized by high grain quality (the content of starch is 62.4%, of protein–16.6%), the maximal yield is 5.6 t/ha. The mid-season variety 41h04 is resistant to lodging and shedding, injury by leaf stripe of oats. Under dry conditions of Volga region (Samara Research Institute of Agriculture) it formed grain of high quality (the content of protein is 19.7%, fat–6.7%, grain unit is 710 gl, thousand grain weight is 28.6 g) with the average productivity 2.28 t/ha over 2014-2015. To continue the breeding of huskless oat varieties, combining high productivity with resistance to dust brand, minimal segregation of chaffy and pseudo-chaffy grains and without fluff the breeding lines 106h12, 107h12, 116h12, 117h12, 118h12, 72h11 were developed in collaborative investigations with Bajchenskaya Agricultural Academy (China). The productivity of these lines is higher by 23-57.3% than in the standard variety Vyatsky.
