Summary. In 2014 under conditions of VIR Kuban Experimental Station 49 genotypes belonging to three Avena spp. grown against the background of high fusarium infection were estimated. It was detected that among isolates of Fusarium fungi from surface-sterilized grain 54% were able to produce trichothecene mycotoxins desoxynivalenol (DON) and T-2 toxin. By real-time PCR it was found that the grain of all analyzed oat samples contained DNA of these Fusarium fungi, but they considerably varied in its amount–from 0.2 to 26.3 pg/100 mg flour. Based on the quantity of DNA of Fusarium fungi all oat genotypes were divided into four groups characterized by the level of the resistance to the infection. Using ELISA it was found that 55% of Avena genotypes accumulated T-2 toxin within 4-56 microg/kg, and 96% of the samples accumulated DON within 21-960 microg/kg. Only two oat samples (K-15305 and K-15326) did not contain Fusarium toxins and can be characterized as resistant by this parameter. The positive correlation between the amount of DNA of trichothecene-producing Fusarium fungi and the amount of trichothecene mycotoxins (r = +0.54) was showed. There was not determined a relationship between Avena spp. and their resistance to the infection and accumulation of mycotoxins. Based on the estimates of the complex of parameters (DNA quantity of Fusarium fungi and mycotoxin accumulation) 14% of the analyzed genotypes can be classified as resistant, and 10% as high susceptible ones.
