Summary. In 2011-2013 in the northern forest-steppe of foothills of the south-east of Western Siberia (Kemerovo region) the investigation were carried out. The aim of the research was to determine the dependency of productivity of soft winter wheat varieties on seeding rates and time, its correlation with dynamics of hydrothermal conditions of vegetation period. The soil of the experimental plot is leached medium thick chernozem with medium humus content. To accomplish the purpose there was conducted the experiment based on four factors (including the hydrothermal conditions of the year). The design of the test included three seeding times: early (the second decade of August), medium (the third decade of August), and late one (the first decade of September); three seeding rates: 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5m germinating seeds per a hectare; four varieties of soft winter wheat: Omskaya 4 (the standard variety), Omskaya Ozimaya, Novosibirskaya 40 and Novosibirskaya 51. The highest productivity of all varieties varied from year to year from 1.92 to 4.84 t/ha and was registered at the medium seeding time and rate of 6.0m seeds. Omskaya Ozimaya and Novosibirskaya 40 varieties showed the highest yields (from 2.57 to 3.19 t/ha over the years, on the average 2.84 t/ha for Omskaya Ozimaya and from 2.40 to 3.02 t/ha over the years, on the average 2.74 t/ha for Novosibirskaya 40). Seeding time and rate had no significant impact on the correlation between productivity and hydrothermal conditions of the growing season. Yields were limited by elevated ambient temperatures in May-July (r is from -0.42 to -0.86), by the amount of precipitation in May and August (r is from +0.39 to -0.72) and by the heat and moisture correlation throughout the growing season (r is from +0.40 to +0.73) with some aggravation in May and August (r is from +0.57 to +0.73) due to high temperatures in May, and insufficient moisture provision in August.

Keywords: soft winter wheat, variety, productivity, seeding time, seeding rate, hydrothermal conditions, growing season.
