MEAT QUALITY OF YOUNG POULTRY OBTAINED FROM INTERBREED CROSSES OF PEREYASLAV BREED OF GEESE

Summary. The aim of this work was to study the growth and meat quality of crossbred chicks, obtained from crosses of Pereyaslav breed geese with poutry of heavier breeds. Studies were carried out in pedigree herd of the Vladimir Research Institute of Agriculture in 2013-2014. Four groups of goslings in 50 head were formed for the experiment. The first group (control) – pure-bred geese of Pereyaslav breed. The second, third, and fourth groups: crossbred young poultry, obtained from crosses of she-geese of Pereyaslav breed with he-geese of Romenskaya, Large Grey and Landskaya breeds. The growth and development of young animals was assessed by individual weighing of goslings every decade. For a comparative study and evaluation of meat quality of geese it was performed a control slaughter and anatomical butchering of carcasses of six goslings from each group at the age of 63 days. It was established that crossbred young poultry of all variants of crossings surpassed purebred Pereyaslav geese in live weight by 6.7-12.3% during the entire period of growing. At all age periods of greatest deviation in live weight (from 9.6 to 12.3%) was presented by goslings obtained by crossing of Pereyaslav with Landskaya geese. The results of slaughter and anatomical butchering of carcasses showed that the crossbred young has higher slaughter indicators characterizing meat productivity, as compared to purebred Pereyaslav goslings. By the weight of edible parts the poultry from test group was distinguished by higher performance. In absolute terms, males were superior to purebred peers on 246.2-353.6 g, or 11.5-15.8%. The crossbred female superiority amounted 171.0-257.2 g, or 9.4-13.3%. The expediency of use of Pereyaslav breed as a maternal one in crosses with Romenskaya, Large Grey and Landskaya breeds was established.
