Summary. Under conditions of growing crisis in the domestic economy peculiarities of the reproduction process in agriculture of Stavropol region were studied. On the basis of an analysis of the branch state in the region during 1990-2014 it was revealed positive and negative trends of its development. For a long time there are no optimal conditions for reproduction in the agricultural industry. Negative processes are particularly evident in the state of the resource potential and efficiency of its use. Comprehensive assessment of the level of economic development and reproduction processes in districts of the region during 2003-2013 was carried out on the basis of a consolidated (integral) evaluation index – the level of profitability. On the average over 2003-2012 6 from 26 districts pertained to territories with a narrowed type of reproduction (profitability was up to 15%). In 2013 12 districts pertained to this category, and three of them worked at a loss (Andropovsky, Ipatovsky, Stepnovsky). In 2013 13 districts referred to the territories with simple reproduction (with the profitability from 15.1 to 30%). It was by 5 districts less than in 2003-2012. The agriculture in only one district – Alexandrovsky was characterized in 2013 by the expanded type of reproduction (with profitability more than 30%). The evaluation of the economic state of the development of agricultural production in the region indicates the low level of reproduction processes in agrarian branch and the necessity of an effective economic mechanism, which is able to overcome the existing problems in the industry and to promote further improvement of economic efficiency of agricultural production.
