Summary. The article presents the results of comparative estimation of economic efficiency of cultivation of new varieties of winter wheat of breeding of P.P. Lukianenko Krasnodar Research Institute of Agriculture in Krasnodar Krai in 2001-2015; the productivity dynamics and increase in sown area are described in detail. In some farms of Krasnodar Krai the average yield of winter wheat is 6 t/ha, in the number of enterprises it is 7-8 t/ha, in others the potential of varieties is used by 30-40% only. To determine the economic effect and net income from the cultivation of a variety the analysis was carried out with the use of such indices as the price of food grain (it was 8400 rub./t in 2015), the average costs at grain production per a unit of area, prime cost and profitability of grain, which obtained 52%, the total costs of development of one variety, which varied from 6 to 9 millions of rubles. Rapid changing of varieties showed the highest efficacy; the costs for a variety development were compensated in the first year of its cultivation. The greatest economic effect in Krasnodar Krai with the intensive technologies of cultivation was demonstrated by the semi-dwarf wheat varieties, especially GROM and Tanya, which composed the basis of the winter crops in Kuban in 2005-2015.
