Summary. The work was carried out in 2006-2015 in FGUP “Proletarskoe” and in the I.G. Kalinenko All-Russian Research Institute of Grain Crops (Rostov region). As a result of hybridization of varieties of different subspecies and ecological and geographical groups (domestic one – Comandor, subspecies japonica and introduced one – Lampo, subspecies indica) with genes of tillering and multiple individual selections it was created mid-season rice variety Akustik carrying genes of increased tillering. Phenological observations, field surveys, evaluations of plants affected by diseases, the degree of lodging and shattering of grain were carried out according to the procedure of the State Commission for Variety Testing of Crops, structural and technological analysis – according to methods of the All-Russian Research Institute of Rice Breeding and All-Russian Research Institute of Grain Crops. In 2015 the variety was transferred to the state variety trials. Plant height on the average is 96 cm, panicle is erect compact with the length of 13.6 cm. The average number of spikelets is 122 pcs. Grains are oval with medium size, the length is 7.8 mm, the breadth is 3.3 mm, the thickness is 2.3 mm. The thousand grain weight on the average is 30.2 g. Kernels are white vitreous (94.3%). The output of cereals is 72.4%, of the safe kernel – 80.7%. The variety is resistant to blast, lodging and shattering. Its average productivity over 3 years in the CVT was 8.36 t/ha, which is higher than for Boyarin variety by 2.25 t/ha. The introduction of this variety to agricultural production will make it possible to produce about extra 2.25 t/ha of rice grain at a cost of 28,000 rub./ha and to decrease the sowing rate.
