Summary. The aim of the research was to identify the causes of biased information in the study of no-till system. It is proposed to consider no-till not as the way of tillage, but as a technology of crop cultivation in the rotation for a long time (at least 5-7 years) with sowing of seeds by disc coulters in a narrow gap of untreated soil. The term “direct seeding” should be appreciated as one-time sowing in untreated soil during the first 3 years of the development of no-till. As the traditional technology it is adopted earlier recommended by scientific institutions agricultural technology of cultivation of a crop in the crop rotation under specific soil and climatic conditions. Studies on the comparative evaluation of traditional and no-till technology should be carried out on large sites (plots), including under industrial conditions, providing optimum parameters for each technology; high accuracy of the test can be achieved by the increase in the number of observations and surveys, including the yield of crops. When publishing articles or other research papers on no-till one should specify conditions (soil, climate, used in the experiments technique) and the methods of the research: crop rotation, the period of crop cultivation by no-till, varieties or hybrids, sowing dates, seeding rates, doses of fertilizers, systems of plant protection. Special attention should be paid to the selection of seeder for direct seeding, working bodies of which should be corrugated discs (turbodisks, coulters), which can cut any quantity of crop residues and loosen a narrow strip of soil to a depth of 10 cm; double disc openers (close up seeds and fertilizer at the selected depth) with a special device to press seeds and fertilizer to the bottom of the furrow; the device, which close up and cover furrows.

Keywords: no-till technology, traditional technology, direct seeding, crop rotation, variant, plot, accounting, observations.
