Summary. The article is devoted to studying the effect of crossbreeding on the exterior quality of hybrid geese. The aim of this work was to study the exterior features of the crossbred goslings produced by crossing of Pereyaslav breed geese with geese of heavier breeds. The studies were performed in the herd of genetic fund of the Vladimir Research Institute of Agriculture in 2013-2014. For the experiment 4 groups of goslings with 50 heads in each group were formed by the method of analogues. The first group (control) was pure-bred goslings of Pereyaslav breed. The second, third and fourth groups were crossbred goslings produced by crossing of Pereyaslav geese with Romenskaya, Large Grey and Landskaya breeds. Exterior characteristics of young birds were estimated by linear measurements of the body at the age of 63 days. For the comparative analysis of an exterior and an estimation of meat qualities of studied poultry exterior indices were calculated. During the work it was established, that crossbred goslings, obtained in all variants of crossbreeding, differed by higher indicators of measurements of a body, than pure-bred goslings. According to body length crossbred goslings exceeded the Pereyaslav breed by 2.5-4.2%, the keel length – by 3.8-8.9%, the chest girth – by 3.6-7.1%, the length of thigh – by 3.0-5.5%. The calculation of exterior indices showed that in crossbred young birds meat constitution is more expressed than in pure-bred goslings. According to the index of massiveness the goslings of Pereyaslav breed inferior crossbred goslings by 5.7-5.9%, in the index of shortening of the back part of the body is the difference was 0.6-2.0%. According to the index of eurysomy the advantage of the crossbred goslings over the goslings of Pereyaslav breed was 0.4-1.1%..
