INFLUENCE OF FOUNDATION METHODS FOR THE NURSERY OF THE FIRST YEAR ON SEED PRODUCTIVITY

Summary. As the result of the studies, the influence of seed rates on productivity, output and the fractional composition of rice seeds of long-grain varieties was shown in the nursery of the first year. The work was carried out in 2014-2015 at the experimental irrigated rice system of the All-Russian Research Institute of Rice Breeding on the varieties Kurazh, Ivushka, Avstral. In the test 120 seeds from one family were sown in rows of the different length: 2.3, 2.5, 3.3 and 3.8 m; the plot area for one variant in this case was 0.7, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.1 m2, and the sowing density was 170, 140, 120 and 100 seeds/m2, respectively. The soil of the test plot was meadow-chernozem solonetzic (semihydromorphic analog of chernozem). The signs of overwetting are in the lower part of its profile. Humus content is 2.8-3.4%, absorptive capacity is low – 32.0-34.0 mg-eq/100 g; calcium (49.9%), magnesium (33.5%) and potassium (13%) predominate among cations. The reaction of soil solution is neutral (pH is 7.2-7.6). It is recommended to sow the families of varieties with middle tillering intensity (like Kurazh) with the density 120 seeds/m2 in the row 3.3 m with inter-row spacing 30 cm, which ensures the maximal propagation coefficient (155). Families of varieties, capable of the intensive tillering, like Ivushka and Avstral, could be sown by rows 3.8 m with inter-row spacing 30 cm taking into account the initial number of seeds in panicles of selected plants; the propagation coefficient in this case can reach 159 and 117, correspondingly.
