GROWTH AND FRUITING OF PLUM-TREES ON RESISTANT TO ASPHYXIATION STEMBUILDERS UNDER CONDITIONS OF FOREST-STEPPE OF ALTAI OB REGION

Summary. The investigations were carried out in 2008-2015 in M.A. Lisavenko Research Institute of Horticulture of Siberia (LRIHS). The aim was to study the influence of intercalary stembuilders (insertions) on resistance to asphyxiation, growth and productivity of plum-trees of varieties Altaiskaya Yubileinaya and Uzyuk. Remote hybrids of plum-tree 61-2, 61-5, 3-10, 11-34, 11-73, 18-119, 8-3-21 (LRIHS) and Nanking cherry x cherry erythrocarpous (Voronezh State University), resistant to asphyxiation and winter-hardy enough under conditions of the forest-steppe of Altai Ob region, were used as insertions. SVG 11-19 (LRIHS) was used as the main stock. The trees of the varieties Altaiskaya Yubileinaya and Uzyuk, engrafted upon root collar of the SVG 11-19 stock (without insertions), were used as a control. Plots were located systemically, with triple replication, taking into account different snow accumulation on the territory. In spring 2010, the cuttings of the varieties Altaiskaya Yubileinaya and Uzyuk were engrafted on the insertions at the height of 30-35 cm. On the control plots sufficient losses of plants due to asphyxiation were registered, only 25% of plants reached bearing stage. The insertions provided engrafted varieties with high viability (63-92%), except the insertion Nanking cherry x cherry erythrocarpous, which is incompatible with the studied varieties. Altaiskaya Yubileinaya revealed incompatibility with the insertion 11-73. This variety was the lowest on the insertion 11-34; its height was 89% with respect to the control. The trees on the insertion 61-2 were the highest: the height of the Altaiskaya Yubileinaya variety was 125%, of the Uzyuk variety – 110% with respect to the control. The trees of the Altaiskaya Yubileinaya on the insertions 61-5, 8-3-21 and Uzyuk on the insertion 61-2 significantly exceeded the control in the crown diameter (111-112%). Other insertions did not influence significantly biometric characteristics of the engrafted cultivars. In 2015 it was selected the insertions 8-3-21, 61-2, 18-119, provided high productivity of both varieties: Altaiskaya Yubileinaya – 7.3, 6.8, 6.2 t/ha, Uzyuk – 8.1, 8.0, 8.8 t/ha, respectively.
