Summary. The purpose of this research was studying and selection of the most early-maturing, cold-resistant high-yielding corn hybrids adapted to the regional climate changes on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan. The study was carried out in 2012-2014 at the experimental plots of Tatarian Agricultural Research Institute on gray forest heavy loamy soil, which is characterized by the following agrochemical parameters: humus content – 4.05 %, alkali-hydrolysable nitrogen – 106.4 mg/kg, mobile phosphorus – 270 mg/kg, exchange potassium – 260 mg/kg, pH 5.2. Plots were two-row, the area of each was 7.06 m2, row spacing was 70 cm. Plots arrangement was random with three replications. The plot length was 5.04 m; there were 56 plants in one plot: one plant in 56 seedbeds every 0.18 m. RIM 11015 significantly exceeded the standard on productivity and forage quality among the hybrids studied in 2012. However, in the following years, it was rejected due to the insufficient cold resistance. The hybrid RIM 12008 was selected according to the results of the study in 2013-2014. It formed high yields in 2013 and 2014, which were contrasting in temperature regimes during vegetation periods: 13.1 and 14.4 t/ha of dry matter, 144.0 and 166,3 GJ/ha of metabolizable energy, respectively. On average over two years the hybrid RIM 12008 surpassed the standard on the yield of dry matter by 37.7 % and metabolizable energy by 42.3 %. It showed the standard level of maturation: the period from germination to full ripeness of grain averaged 109 days.
Keywords: corn hybrids, selection number, ear yield, dry matter, metabolizable energy, early maturation, adaptability, environmental testing, environmental plasticity.
