Summary. At the premises of the laboratory of forage crops breeding of FGBNU “Research Agricultural Institute of the Northern Trans-Urals” and the laboratory of varietal identification of seeds of FGBOU VPO “State Agrarian University of the Northern Trans-Urals” the biotype composition of the new oat variety Otrada was studied and determined in 2014-2015. The variety was characterized by morphological, biological and economically valuable traits. It was selected 2500 panicles for examination in 2014. During morphological analysis 1115 families were selected for further study; they were investigated by the method of electrophoresis of storage alcohol-soluble proteins – prolamines. Three kernels from each family were selected in a random way for the electrophoretic analysis. Thirty-five types of electropherograms were revealed. The first and the second biotypes were characteristic for the most investigated families (89.9 %) and were present in the population at the ratio of 2:1. As a result of identification of alleles of avenin-coding loci (ACL), it was found that the first and thesecond biotypes differed by the allele of locus Avn A. The genetic formula of Otrada variety is Avn Anew + 4B4C1. In 2015 the families of the first and the second biotypes were crowded into separate blocks and sown at the experimental field. After harvesting kernels from unthreshed panicles of 320 families of the first biotype and 255 families of the second biotype were analyzed to control the biotype composition. During the electrophoretic analysis the lines heterozygous at ACL, as well as mechanical impurities, were revealed. These families were excluded from the further breeding. The use of electrophoresis of prolamines in primary seed breeding allowed to get the original seeds quite quickly and efficiently at the first stages of breeding and introduction of the variety into cultivation, as well as to maintain their purity and the ratio of biotypes during the process of further variety cultivation.
