Summary. Varieties Omskaya Stepnaya, Omskaya Yantarnaya, Omskii Korund, Zhemchuzhina Sibiri, Omskii Izumrud were studied in competitive testing at the Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture (Omsk, south forest-steppe) and the base station “Stepnoi” in Omsk region (steppe) in 2007-2015. The aim of the experiment was to study spring durum wheat cv. Omskaya Stepnaya under conditions of south forest-steppe and steppe of Omsk region. The experiments were founded after bare fallow on May 15-16 in Omsk and on May 24-25 at the base station “Stepnoi” with the sowing rate 4.5m (Omsk) and 3.5m (BS “Stepnoi”) of germinating seeds per a hectare. The soils of the test plots are weakly leached chernozem (at the first plot) and usual chernozem (at the second plot). The experiment on agrotechnics of varieties Omskaya Stepnaya, Omskaya Yantarnaya, Zhemchuzhina Sibiri was founded on the station of the Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture after fallow in 2008-2012; the area of test plots was 10 m2; the replication was four-fold. The variants of the test were: sowing date – May 14-15, May 20-21, May 26-28; sowing rates – 3.5m, 4.5m, 5.5m of germinating seeds per a hectare. The average grain productivity after fallow under conditions of Omsk was 3.03 t/ha for Omskaya Stepnaya, 2.72 t/ha for Omskaya Yantarnaya, 2.75 t/ha for Omskii Korund, 3.00 t/ha for Zhemchuzhina Sibiri, 3.32 t/ha for Omskii Izumrud. In the steppe it was 2.58, 2.38, 2.55, 2.72, 2.91 t/ha, correspondingly. Grain-unit averaged 779 g/l, it was higher by 21 and 11 g/l than in Omskaya Yantarnaya and Omskii Izumrud, respectively. The variety forms grain with high vitreousness (up to 82 % with the average one of 69 %). The color estimation of dry and boiled macaroni was at the level of Omskaya Yantarnaya, Omskii Korund, Zhemchuzhina Sibiri. The variety is resistant to dust brand; it is not injured by brown rust under natural conditions; it is injured by stinking smut and powdery mildew to a lesser degree. Under conditions of the south forest-steppe the optimal date for sowing this variety is May 14-15 with the seeding rate 5.5m of germinating seeds per a hectare.

Keywords: durum wheat, variety, competitive test, sowing date, seeding rate.
