Summary. The article presents the results of research of the problems of meat cattle breeding development in Tambov region. The priority directions of the regional state policy in this field are purebred stock farming of specialized meat breeds; obtaining of crossbred population, based on interbreed (industrial) crossbreeding with specialized meat cattle; the construction of feedlots for final fattening of young cattle of meat breeds using modern technologies; the involvement of the private farms in the total scheme of creation of the meat subcomplex of the region; the saturation of the food market with quality meat products of domestic producers; the growth of production of competitive “marbled” beef; technological upgrading of the industry to improve its sustainability and competitiveness. Sustainable and effective meat production is possible through the development of integration relations to ensure the improvement of the system of inter-sector interaction and exchange. Meat producers and meat processing enterprises should be the core of the integrated enterprises. Sales and procurement structures should operate on orders and contracts with organizations and business structures, included in the core of the enterprise. Service structures should ensure the solution of production problems and sale of the products of the association. Research and innovation structure should carry out the orders of the members of the association for research and development. The basic principle of economic relations in the integrated associations is the principle of break-even at each stage of the production. This will provide a guaranteed purchase of necessary volumes of meat and meat products at pre-agreed prices and delivery schedules, provides the opportunity for the expanded application of commercial loans both for solidary guarantee and in the context of specific investment programs and projects. The implementation of the proposed activities will increase the production of beef up to 8,000 tons; the population of livestock of meat breeds up to 20,200 head, including 5,700 head of cows; the amount of revenue up to 24.1m rubles; the volume of tax revenues up to 2.4m rubles by 2018.
