Summary. It is examined the current science and technology state in the sphere of physical and chemical factors influence on the biological wastewater treatment with anaerobic ammonia oxidation (the ANAMMOX-process). The optimal temperature for the ANAMMOX-process is 20-43degrees at pH 8.0. The anaerobic (anoxic) conditions with the oxygen concentration less than 3.2x10E-2 mg/l should be maintained in the reactors. ANAMMOX-bacteria can use low-molecular-weight organic acids as electron donors. Nitrite is the main electron acceptor, but ferrous iron, manganese oxides and sulfates can also be used. Methanol, cadmium, mercury, and copper produce a stable toxic effect on the process. The ANAMMOX-process is inhibited by 50 % by the following substances: silver ions (11.52 ± 0.49 mg/l), mercury (60.35 ± 2.47 mg/l), toluene (73 mg/l), cadmium (11.16 ± 0.42 mg/l). Chloride-ions (at the concentration of 7.1 mg/l), ammonium (0.99 g/l), nitrites (1.15 g/l), nitrates (2.79 g/l), phosphates (1.9 g/l) influence Candidatus Kuenenia stuttgartiensis bacteria in the same way. The ANAMMOX-bacteria are also able to adapt gradually to NaCl concentrations up to 15 g/l. In order to restore their activity, the calcium ions and graphene oxide are used. It recovers faster if Ca2+ concentration increases from 0.8 mg/l to 20 mg/l, and if the graphene oxide concentration increases from 0.05 to 0.1 g/l. The reactor efficacy can be increased with the periodical use of ultrasound exposure at 0.7 W/cm2 for 0.19 minutes.
