Summary. Investigations were carried out in 2012–2014 in the Narymsky department of breeding and seed production of FGBNU “Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture and Peat”, located in the taiga zone of Western Siberia. The aim of the study was to evaluate the promising oat samples from competitive variety trials. The tested samples were sorted as mid-early maturity group. The shortest vegetation period (60 days) was observed in 3459/07 sample, the longest one – in Narymsky 943 (69 days), which belongs to middle-ripe maturity group. Over three years of the research, the average resistance to lodging was 4.7–4.9 points. The highest yield (2.82 t/ha) was registered in 2204/03 sample in 2012. The highest average yield of all samples in the test (2.6 t/ha) was noted in 2014. Six samples were better than Narymskiy 943 standard with a reliable yield increase of 0.32–0.49 t/ha, while the average grain harvest in competitive variety trials was 2.12–2.48 t/ha. During three years of the investigation the average weight of 1000 grains for the studied varieties was in the range of 37.2–43.8 g, husk content – of 26.2–29.4 %. Under conditions of severe shortage of rainfall in 2012 (HTC was 0.05), the grain was smaller: 34.2–42.6 g. According to the results of the three-year research, test samples did not have significant advantages over Narymsky 943 variety on this characteristic, but the lines 3459/07 and 3877/07 exceeded the second standard Metis. The coefficients of partial correlation (on the average over three years) showed the significantly higher inverse relationship of the yield on the weight of 1000 grains (R was -0.90*) and the duration of the growing season (R was -0.87*). Husk content in grain during a drought increased to 29.6–35.1 % (3459/07 and Narymsky 943). The sample 3877/07 (26.2 %) had significantly lower husk content than the standard Metis (27.8 %) during the years of studying. It was accumulated 9.0–11.5 % of crude protein in oat grain under conditions of drought (2012). The content of crude protein decreased to 6.7–9.25 % at low heat supply, and excessive moisture (2013). We developed mid-ripening lines with lodging resistance (3453/05, 1628/05, 2204/03), exceeding the standard Narymsky 943 in the yield by 0.38–0.49 t/ha. The samples 2204/03 and 3459/07 were distinguished under conditions of drought.

Keywords: oats, sample, yield, weight of 1000 grains, husk content, crude protein, resistance to lodging.
