Summary. The application of DNA-markers in breeding programs is one of the effective instruments in the improvement of pig production. The objective of our work was to study the influence of Large White boar genotypes for insulin-like growth factor (IGF2) and cathepsin D (CTSD) on growth and carcass characteristics of their offspring. The evaluation of the productive traits was performed on the basis of data, obtained from 14715 animals, produced from 64 boars, genotyped for IGF2 and CTSD. The data analysis was performed for the following traits: daily gain for the period from 0 to 76 days (DG1), daily gain for the period from 76 to 170 days (DG2), daily gain during the entire growing period (DG), the age at 100 kg (A100, days), body weight at the end of the growing period (BW), the average actual fat thickness, measured in four points (TFA, mm) and the average fat thickness calculated for the 100 kg of body weight (TF100, mm). The analysis of variance was carried out using MANOVA. It was observed that factor “IGF2” had a reliable influence on the variability of all the studied traits: for BF p was less than 0.05, for the other traits (DG1, DG2, DG, A100, BW, TF100) p was less than 0.001. The factor “CTSD” had a reliable influence on the variability of all the growth and carcass characteristics with p less than 0.001. The interaction of factors “IGF2” and “CTSD” had a reliable influence on the DG1, TFA, TF100 with p less than 0.001; and for DG2 p was less than 0.05. No reliable variability was observed for BG, A100, and BW. For the DNA-marker IGF2, the offspring of boars with QQ genotype had the best meat and fattening qualities. Analysis for CTSD DNA-marker showed that higher values for BW, DG2, DG, and A100 were obtained for boars with AG genotype and lower values – for animals with GG genotype; for DG1 the obtained data showed higher results for the group GG and the lower ones for the group AA. As for TFA and TF100, the group with AA genotype showed higher results as compared to the GG group.
