Abstract. The aim of the research was to study the effect of expression of integrated recombinant genes on the morphological and morphometric parameters of eggs of transgenic hens in comparison with non-transgenic birds. The studies were carried out in the L.K. Ernst Institute of Animal Husbandry in 2017. The object of the study was transgenic hens obtained on the basis of Hisex White cross with the use of lentiviral vectors, which contained the marker gene eGFP under the control of constitutive promoters RSV (n = 9) and CAG (n = 12). Eggs from experimental chickens were used for research. Egg storage time was no more than 2 days after egg-laying. We examined the weight of an egg and its constituent parts, the large and small diameters, the egg shape index, the thickness of the shell, the height and diameter of the egg-white and yolk. Hau units, egg-white and yolk indices were calculated to characterize the quality of egg-white and yolk. In transgenic chickens, in comparison with the control ones, a significant increase up to 18 % in the weight of eggs was observed (P is more or equal to 0.99). This was due to the increase in the mass of the component parts of eggs: shell, dense egg-white and yolk up to 19, 7 and 31 % (P is more or equal to 0.99), respectively, which can be connected with the change in the composition of eggs due to the expression of additional (recombinant) egg-white in the egg. The egg quality indices: egg-white and yolk indices, Hau unit in transgenic hens were lower by 23, 8–13 and 9 %, respectively, compared to the control ones (P is more or equal to 0.99). However, these deviations were within the normative parameters. The most expressed changes in the studied indicators were found in transgenic hens with the integrated eGFP gene under the control of the CAG promoter.
Keywords: transgenic poultry, morphology of eggs, yolk, egg-white.
