Abstract. Geobotanical studies in the mountains of Tokingda in the north-west of the Putorana Plateau were aimed to reveal the phytocenotic diversity of forest vegetation. The territory (40 km2) of the eastern extremity of Lake Kutaramakan (69 degrees 34 minutes north latitude, 90 degrees 19 minutes east latitude) was chosen as the model site. It includes almost the entire variety of habitats peculiar to the given landscape, and it is surveyed by the route method. Particular attention is paid to the identification of all plant communities (with similar physiognomic appearance and composition of life forms) taking into account the location in the relief. The revealed diversity of forest vegetation (6 groups of associations with 20 low-ranking taxonomic units isolated within them) is 1.4 times greater than the diversity of the northwestern part of the plateau. With such a rich diversity of forest vegetation, there are no spruce forests, little clean larch-trees and birch forests. Along with typical forest communities, here are found rare for the whole Putorana Plateau moss, juniper and skinleaf mossy larch woodlands and open stands. The main forester is Larix gmelinii. The largest areas (70% of the studied territory) are occupied by larch forest, among which 60% are communities with lichen cover. They form solid forestlands and are highly productive forage lands. Larch communities are the richest in terms of the number of species in them (54), and birch forests are the poorest (24). Mixed forest communities and birch forests occupy 5% of the territory. The mixed forests and woodlands are characterized by a complex vertical structure, they occupy the middle position according to the species richness. In general, healthy and undisturbed forest communities grow in the area under study.
