Abstract. We studied the associations of the reproductive capacity of cows with different genotypes in prolactin (PRL), thyroglobulin (TG5) and beta-lactoglobulin (BLG) genes at the elongation of the period between calvings. In an experiment, conducted in 2014–2016, 100 Holstein cows of the Atninsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan were examined: the first group with the duration of the period between calvings of 365–385 days (41 head), the second group – 386 days and more (59 head). DNA was isolated from the tail vein blood. Polymorphism of genes was determined by PCR and subsequent restriction of fragments. Differences in the indicators of reproductive ability were found between the genotypes. The period between calvings was the longest in cows homozygous for allele B of the prolactin gene (556 days). The live weight and age at the first insemination were the smallest in animals with the TT genotype of TG5 gene: 383 kg at the age of 15 months. For all investigated genotypes a fertility index was high (more than 48), but the highest fertility rate was in animals with the AA genotype for the beta-lactoglobulin gene (60). With an extension of the period between calvings, the differences in milk losses, taking into account the polymorphic state of the genes, reached 52% (1.0 kg/day). Animals with TS genotype of TG5 gene were characterized by the highest losses of milk productivity – 772 kg for the whole period or 2.0 kg/day, as well as animals with BB genotype of BLG gene – 733 kg for the whole period or 1.9 kg/day. Animals with TT genotype of TG5 gene were characterized by the least losses of milk in the case of elongation of the period between calvings: 116 kg for the whole period or 0.3 kg/day. We recommend using such animals in further selection for the lengthening of the lactation period, in order to obtain the largest milk yield.
