Abstract. The purpose of the research was to carry out a variety testing of new varieties and hybrids of white cabbage and cucumber of different ecological and geographical origin for their possible zoning and introduction into production in the Amur River region. The experiments were carried out in 2013–2017 in Khabarovsk Krai on three variety testing plots: Khabarovsky, Verinsky, Komsomolsky, and in the Jewish Autonomous Region at the Birobidzhan variety testing plot. We used the ridge technology generally accepted in the region for these crops. In the group of early ripening white cabbage samples, the hybrid ‘Vostochny’ exceeded the standard ‘Transfer’ by 3.6–7.8 t/ha in all variety testing plots during the examination of this crop (2015–2016). The Japanese hybrid ‘Lucky Ball’ and ‘Cyclone’ from Canada appeared to be the most promising for the conditions of the region in the group of mid-season samples. The marketable productivity of these samples was higher than that of the standard ‘Mishutka’ by 7.0–17.9 and 4.0–7.6 t/ha at Verinsky and Komsomolsky variety testing plots, respectively. The late-ripening sample ‘Tajfun’ had high yield and quality of cabbage heads, which on average exceeded the standard values by 10.3–11.9 t/ha. The selected new cabbage hybrids are recommended for zoning in the 12th climatic zone for the first time since 2017. There were no promising hybrids among the new samples of cucumber during the years of the tests (2013–2015) in Khabarovsk Krai. All of them were lower than the standard ‘Strizh’ and all local varieties according to the main productivity indicators, except for the early harvest. ‘Khabar’ and ‘Mig’ varieties of local selection on the Khabarovsky and Verinsky variety testing plots considerably exceeded the standard in the average productivity for three years: ‘Khabar’ – by 8.5 and 4.2 t/ha, and ‘Mig’ – by 4.1 and 12.5 t/ha, respectively.
