Abstract. We studied the influence of various forecrops and the treatment of potato seed tubers by Maksim 0.25, SC on the soil population of Rhizoctonia solani Kuch. of Ag-3 and Ag-4 groups and on the phytosanitary state of tubers of a new yield. The experiments were carried out in 2005–2008 on the fields of the Siberian Federal Research Center of Agricultural Biotechnology of the RAS. Spring wheat and barley, oat, spring rape, brown mustard, potato were forecrops for early potato ‘Agata’. For each culture it was formed infectious (introduction of an inoculum from a mixture of R. solani strains of Ag-3 and Ag-4 groups) and non-infectious backgrounds (without the introduction of the inoculum). Each plot was divided in half, one half served as a control, the other was planted by tubers, treated with Maksim 0.25, SC fungicide. The number of propagules of the fungus in the soil under such forecrops as rape and mustard was lower 2.0–2.2 times, under oat it was close at the initial level (17.3 propagules per 100 g of soil), under barley and wheat it was higher 1.2–1.5 times (21.7–27.5 propagules). Such tendencies kept throughout the whole growing season. The correlation between the soil population of R. solani and occupancy by sclerotia of the fungus of the output yield is high (r = 0.8). The lowest number of propagative structures of R. solani during harvesting was observed in the soil when growing the crop after rape and mustard (21.5–22.3 propagules/100 g of soil); in the same variant, the smallest occupancy of tubers with sclerotia of the fungus was noted (38–40%). With the increase in the number of the fungus in the soil, the occupancy of the yield with sclerotia raises. The treatment of tubers with such preparation as Maksim 0.25, SC allowed on average to reliably reduce the abundance of sclerotial forms on the obtained product 1.2 times.
