Abstract. The reactions of mid-season and early-maturing oat varieties to sowing time and fertilizers under different weather conditions were studied. Agrotechnical experiments were organized in the experimental fields of Krasnoyarsk Research Agricultural Institute in 2014–2017. The forecrop was bare fallow after cereals; the soil treatment was standard for the zone. The experiments were carried out according to the scheme: the sowing time was early (May 18) and late (May 28); fertilizers were applied in the dose of N30P30К60. The material for the study was oat varieties of different groups of ripeness, included in the State register in Krasnoyarsk Krai: early-maturing varieties Tubinsky, Sayan, and mid-season variety Kazyr. Favourable weather conditions were in 2015 and 2016 (HTC was 1.20–1.24 in summer months), unfavourable weather conditions were in 2014 and 2017 (HTC was 0.85–0.96). In unfavourable years the mid-season variety decreased the yield in the late sowing date by 0.1–0.2 t/ha in comparison with the early-maturing ones. In favourable years the productivity of the two maturity groups was independent of the sowing date. Under conditions of insufficient moisture supply at the late sowing date, the average weight of 1000 grains of the mid-season variety was less by 2–8 g, compared to the early date, germination capacity was less by 2–4%. The duration of an interphase period “sprouts – earing” was the same at both sowing dates, but an interphase period “earing – maturation” increased by 4 days in unfavourable years for Kazyr variety. All oat varieties were responsive for fertilizers in all years, the increase in the yield was 0.1–0.5 t/ha. Under conditions of favourable 2015–2016, the application of fertilizers increased the germination capacity of harvested seeds of Sayan variety by 2–3%, of Kazyr variety – by 1%, and also increased the weight of 1000 grains from 1.1 g in Kazyr variety to 2.5 g in Tubinsky variety, in comparison with the control.
