Abstract. A study comparing the digestive features of Romanov sheep (Ovis aries) and interspecific hybrids of Romanov sheep and argali (Ovis ammon) was performed at different levels of calcium and phosphorus in the diet. Gimmers at the age of 8–9 months with a live weight of 30±2 kg were operated with the imposition of fistula of the rumen according to Basov’s method and distributed according to the genotype into 2 groups: I – hybrid gimmers F3 with 87.5% of blood of Romanov sheep and 12.5% of argali blood (n = 3); II – purebred Romanov gimmers (n = 3). Groups I-A and II-A received a diet of the hay-concentrate type with a content of calcium and phosphorus in the amount of 4.0 and 2.8 g per 1 kg of dry matter, respectively. Groups I-B and II-B received the same type of diet with the addition of defluorinated phosphate with a content of calcium and phosphorus in the amount of 5.1 and 3.3 g per 1 kg of dry matter, respectively. The animals from group I-B had a higher consumption of crude fat (by 9.4 g, or 36.0%) and NFE (by 60.8 g, or 12.7%), as well as an increased mass of microorganisms in the rumen (267 g/100 mL, or 31.5%) comparing to group I-A. Diet B contributed to the increased formation of volatile fatty acids in rumen fluid of hybrid gimmers by 3.4–14.5% (by 0.30–1.33 Mmol/100 mL), of purebred Romanov sheep – by 4.1–5.8% (by 0.34–0.50 Mmol/100 mL). The increase in amylolytic activity of the rumen microflora in hybrid young ewes was equal to 8.5% (by1.28 u/mL), in purebred Romanov young ewes – to 5.7% (+0.77 U/mL). The difference in the use of calcium and phosphorus between groups I-A and I-B was 22% and 17%, respectively, in favor of I-A, between II-A and II-B – 22 and 18%, respectively, in favor of II-A.
