Abstract. The peculiarities of separation of sorghum squash on centrifugal sifters, where squash and its sediments subjected to repeated washes should slide along the surface without lagging, consist in the fact that their friction angle, which determines the conditions of movement without lagging, changes during the process of separation and washing. Therefore, a sifter working with several washes should have a surface with a variable angle of inclination along the path of the product. The studies were performed to determine the friction angle of precipitation of sorghum squash and suspensions of its pulp after washing. The experiments were carried out on the installation simulating the conditions of the movement beginning of the studied suspensions on the sifter. The results are presented in the form of graphs illustrating the nature of the changes in the parameters of the products under study from squash to triple washing of its pulp. The variable parameters were the different percentages of dry matter, simulating washing and separation, as well as the magnitude of the preload of the product to the surface of the sifter. It was calculated ranges of friction angles of precipitation. The friction angle of precipitation rose with increasing dry matter content and decreasing amount of free starch, and the angle reduced with increasing pressure in the sediment. In the studied range of loads, corresponding to thin-layer sliding of sediments along the sifter (55–105 Pa), the angle varied in the range of 24–35 degrees for squash sediment, 45–55 degrees after the first washing, 50–63 degrees after the second washing, 55–70 degrees after the third washing.
